about

New Streets was one of the earliest of Winks’ songs to be recorded, and also one of the key tracks that led to the Joff Winks Band project developing as a separate concern from Antique Seeking Nuns. New Streets fits comfortably into a “Neil Young meets Beck” singer-songwriter style and ably shows the fine writing foundation that would continue on the Songs For Days album. The B-side, Nothing Left to Prove is a more progressively flavoured track featuring more of the bands dexterous playing and remains exclusive to this release.

Track Name: New Streets
That I’m not as young as I look
But I’m not as old as I feel
Stand firm fixed to ground and wait
For my chance to come

Building so tall
And people are small
Manholes that steam
A million neon dreams

I’m not as young as I look
But I’m not as old as I feel
Stand firm fixed to ground and wait
For my chance to

Please give me some room
This crowd is too much
I can’t walk down the street but I
Needed this so much
I’d started to rust
I’ve been living asleep
Track Name: Nothing Left To Prove
If People simplified their lives
Individuals set aside their pride
The ground would be as firm
As all of us discern

A concealed happening
Come on it’s happening
Conceive it’s happening

We’re equals, equally contrived
Derive meaning from understanding life

A concealed happening
Come on it’s happening
Conceive it’s happening
Come on it’s happening
A concealed happening
Come on it’s happening

If people want the truth
They’re too afraid to say it
The sceptics’ on the wrong foot
There’s nothing left to prove
